A priority is placed on getting those who suffer from mental health issues as well as addiction the help that they need. As a result, more and more insurance companies have started including drug and alcohol addiction treatment and therapy in their insurance plans. One of those companies is Tricare health insurance. While Tricare health insurance is an out-of-network provider for use here at Live Free Recovery, we still work with them to help provide those who come to see us with the best treatment possible for a price that fits their budget and that they can afford. This includes:

On this page, you will find more information about your Tricare insurance plan as it pertains to the services that we offer at Live Free Recovery.

What Addiction and Mental Health Services Does Tricare Cover?

Since we cater only to those who either are actively serving or have previously served in the military and their families, we understand the unique challenges that some in the military face. This includes the mental health and addiction challenges that many of our members face on a daily basis. That’s why Tricare health insurance is proud to cover a variety of mental health and addiction services to help those members of ours who are in need.

Detox

Before starting any type of treatment program, it is first important to detox from whatever substance or substances that you have been struggling with. Due to the nature of detoxing and the side effects that come along with it, it is important to undergo detox under the care and supervision of trained medical professionals.

Detoxing can be done at either a local medical facility, a dedicated detox center, or a treatment center that also offers detox services. Attempting to self-detox at home can be incredibly dangerous and even life-threatening. In addition, due to the severity of the side effects that come along with detoxing, many people find themselves relapsing as a way to deal with some of the symptoms associated with detoxing.

Tricare insurance plans cover detox for those who need it prior to entering into any of the following treatment programs:

Inpatient Treatment

Also known as residential treatment in some cases, inpatient treatment is typically the most popular treatment option for both treatment professionals and those who are seeking treatment. The main reason for this is that during inpatient treatment, you live at the facility for the duration of your treatment. This not only allows you to be under the constant care and supervision of trained medical professionals and licensed therapists, but it also ensures that you are beginning your treatment in a safe and structured environment without any of the temptations that could lead to a relapse.

Your Tricare health insurance plan may cover some or all of your inpatient treatment program based on the following:

  • You suffering from a substance abuse disorder
  • You suffer from severe symptoms that warrant inpatient treatment being required
  • Your symptoms require you to be under round-the-clock care and supervision

If you are unsure if your Tricare plan covers inpatient treatment, you can always reach out to your Tricare representative or contact us at Live Free Recovery.

Outpatient Treatment

While inpatient treatment is the preferred method of addiction treatment, not everyone has the time or ability to enter an inpatient program. Some people simply can’t abandon their current daily commitments to go into an inpatient program. For those who chose not to enter into an inpatient program for whatever reason, outpatient treatment is the next best option.

Outpatient involves many of the same components of inpatient treatment including all the therapy sessions and access to counselors. The main difference though is that you do not live at the facility. You come to the facility for your scheduled therapy sessions and then return home when you are finished. Since you won’t be living at a rehab facility while in outpatient treatment, it is important that you have a safe and supportive home environment to return to every day after your therapy sessions.

Based on your Tricare medical insurance plan, you might have more coverage when it comes to outpatient treatment than inpatient treatment. If you have questions about outpatient treatment or are curious if it is the right type of treatment for you, contact us today. We will work with you to pick out the best treatment option for you. We will also work with your insurance company to make sure that the out-of-pocket expenses that you will incur are kept to a minimum if there are any at all.

Co-Occurring Disorders

Unfortunately, many people who have served in the military suffer from mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Some who find themselves suffering from a mental health condition might not fully know or understand how to deal with it in a healthy manner. As a result, they might turn to drugs or alcohol in order to numb the proverbial pain. When someone suffers from both a mental health condition and a substance abuse issue, it is known as a co-occurring disorder.

At Live Free Recovery, we offer treatment for co-occurring disorders and the good news for you is that, depending on your Tricare policy, there might be no expense to you. Many Tricare policies cover a variety of mental health services and psychotherapies. People use these mental health services and psychotherapies when treating co-occurring disorders such as:

Group therapy
Individual therapy
Family therapy
Psychological testing, assessment, and evaluation
Psychotropic drugs when deemed necessary and prescribed as part of a treatment plan
Psychoanalysis
Supplemental therapies

Is Tricare In-Network or Out of Network?

Most Tricare health insurance plans offer coverage for both in-network and out-of-network facilities. While your plan might cover out-of-network facilities, it is important to know that if you choose an out-of-network rehab facility, your out-of-pocket expenses will be greater.

While Tricare health insurance is considered to be an out-of-network provider for Live Free Recovery, we are proud to be contracted with them and do accept their insurance policies. If you are unsure about what your Tricare insurance policy will cover or have questions about how much treatment would cost you out-of-pocket, you can either reach out to your insurance representative or you can simply give us a call at Live Free Recovery.

It is our goal to get you the help and support that you need at as little cost as possible to you. We don’t want money to be the reason why someone doesn’t get the help that they need, which is why we will work with you to get the treatment you need at a price you can afford.
